Delivering Good Together in Hotels & Restaurants
Our people
Our Hotels and Restaurants people told us they wanted us to help them to make a difference. While the overall Good Together programme has six strands to it, we felt it was necessary to focus our teams on a smaller number of priorities, where they could really make a difference as individuals, no matter what their role within the business. These are:
- "Turn it off’" – saving energy by turning off lights and electrical equipment when it’s not needed.
- "Hate waste" – recycling and avoiding generating unnecessary waste.
- WaterAid – helping to raise £1 million for WaterAid over the next 2 years.
- Apprenticeships and development – taking action on personal development and supporting the Apprenticeship and Skills for Life programmes.
Our Buildings
The most significant element of our direct environmental footprint is water and energy use as well as waste management in our buildings, so we are focusing on these areas as well as on how we communicate the issues to our customers.
Future priorities that we are now working on are:
- Our food: How we source it and providing choice and nutritional information to our guests.
- Our supply chain: understanding our impacts and implementing responsible sourcing programmes.
- Engaging with our customers on Good Together.
