Delivering Good Together in Costa

At Costa we are passionate about coffee and delivering Good Together is all about continuing to make our coffee better. This means:

  • The coffee: sourcing our great quality blend of coffee responsibly through the Rainforest Alliance and supporting coffee growers through the work of our Costa Foundation.
  • The milk: buying British milk from our farms in South West England and transporting it in pouches to cut down on waste.
  • The cup: using only certified sustainable pulp in the production of our cups, reducing their weight and innovating to make the cup more widely recyclable.

Our future priorities are:

  1. Growing the Foundation's scale of operations.
  2. Cutting carbon emissions and costs through energy efficiency in stores and improving our ability to measure Costa energy consumption.
  3. Reducing the volume of our waste that goes to landfill.

Recycling coffee cups

We aim to see more of our take-away coffee cups recycled by changing how we make our cups and by promoting recycling.

Rainforest Alliance coffee

From June 2010 all Costa coffee sold in the UK and internationally (except India and some recently acquired stores from Coffee Heaven in Europe) will be 100% Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM coffee.

Costa cows and milk bags

Changing over to using milk sourced in the UK and transported in bags rather than plastic bottles means we make better coffee, produce far less waste and so save money.

Green coffee machine

We have developed a new coffee machine that uses about 30% less energy while making our best coffee ever.

Costa Foundation

The Costa Foundation is Costa Coffee’s way of giving something back to coffee-growing communities.
