What are the issues?

For everyone in the world to use as many resources as each of us in the UK, we would need three planets.

What are we doing about it?

Our plans include using less energy and water, cutting our construction waste in half and having recyclable coffee cups in all our Costa stores.

Our most significant impacts are our energy use – with its associated carbon dioxide emissions – and our use of water and production of waste. We aim to make our buildings increasingly energy- and water-efficient and we are reducing our waste and recycling more.

What are the issues?

For everyone in the world to use as many resources as each of us in the UK, we would need three planets. As a business, our most significant environmental and resource use impacts are our energy use – with its associated carbon dioxide emissions – and our use of water and production of waste. We aim to make our buildings increasingly energy- and water-efficient and we are reducing our waste and recycling more. The biggest difference we can make to our carbon footprint is to make our buildings more energy-efficient, which we are doing in our hotels, restaurants and coffee shops.
