Achieve 80% of waste diverted from landfill from Whitbread Hotels & Restaurants sites by February 2012.

By the end of 2010 we estimate that will have risen to 66%, so we are pleased to be well on track to meet our 2012 target.

100% of all UK Costa Coffee production to be Rainforest Alliance certified by June 2010.

100% of Costa coffee production going to UK Costa stores was Rainforest Alliance certified as of May 2010. This includes all sites run by franchise partners in the UK.

In addition, 100% of all coffee production going to Costa International stores is Rainforest Alliance Certified as of May 2010 with exception of:

To raise funds for and build Costa Foundation schools sufficient to educate 15,000 children in coffee-growing communities by 2012.

In three years since the launch of the Costa Foundation, we have built 11 schools in Colombia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ethiopia and Uganda. That's a total of 55 classrooms that are now being used by 6,700 children.

To meet our target, we need to build one school per year in each of the countries where the Foundation currently operates: Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala and Uganda. In 2009/10 we raised a total of £306,000 for the Costa Foundation. This puts us slightly ahead of our interim target for this year.
